2025 HLPF – VNR Lab 10 Years of VNRs: Reflecting on Progress and Inclusive Approaches to SDG Reporting 21 July 2025, 14:00-15:00 UN Headquarters, 15th floor, Room S-1522/23*
The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be convened from Monday, 14 July, to Wednesday, 23 July 2025, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. The theme of the HLPF is “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind”. For the eighth year, a series of Voluntary National Review (VNR) Labs are being convened on the margins of the HLPF.
As the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) mark their 10-year anniversary in 2025, this VNR Lab, organized by the UN Foundation, the Major Groups and Other Stakeholders Coordination Mechanism (MGoS CM) and UN DESA, will offer a space to reflect on how inclusive approaches to SDG reporting have evolved and where they can take us in the final stretch toward 2030.
The session will bring together Member States and stakeholders to share lessons learned, highlight effective collaboration throughout the VNR process, and explore how multi-stakeholder engagement can enhance accountability and accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals amid ongoing global challenges.
Objectives - To provide a platform for Member States and stakeholders to discuss challenges, opportunities, and good practices in SDG reporting.
- To create an opportunity to spotlight examples of successful collaboration between Member States and stakeholders in support of measuring the SDG implementation and progress through VNRs.
- To reflect on lessons from a decade of Voluntary National Reviews and explore ways to accelerate SDG progress through inclusive approaches.
- To build momentum and synergy around the key moments as we approach 2030.
The programme is posted on this webpage.
*Everyone with a valid UN ground pass or HLFP badge will be able to join this VNR Lab. There is no registration, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis up to the capacity of the room (estimated 80 participants).
